Are Games Killing Groups?

I have so many things I want to discuss on general chat, but I've been bitten every time I post and so I choose not to get involved in much.

Please go for it, some fresh subjects would be welcome!

It's not killing Groups. It's probably the only groups where you don't get put downs and told to move on, or told that the subject has been flogged to death.

I have so many things I want to discuss on general chat, but I've been bitten every time I post and so I choose not to get involved in much.

This is exactly what I keep telling people—it's YOUR forum, and you should never feel intimidated to post or ask anything, even if it's been asked or discussed before (multiple times). You should feel comfortable knowing that mature, helpful site members who understand what you're asking will join the conversation and help you. You shouldn’t be afraid that trolls are going to beat you senseless with pointless conversation derailment and comments like, 'This has been asked so many times.' If more people like yourself used the forum, those loud voices would become harder to hear so PLEASE PLEASE join the conversation....

Just my 2 pence worth as someone who's been an intermittent PP user over the last 6 years.

I quite enjoy the games and post in both the share your own and previous poster's image ones.

Regarding the other forums, I've found I've generally had a decent/friendly response to my questions and when I've answered others.

Overall, I've found the vast majority of folk on here friendly and helpful.

ANDY00 It's correct to say that I should feel comfortable posting, but when the culprits who chime in with negative comments, it does muddy the water and kills anymore conversations

Absolutely 1000% agree, and I've been saying this for some time! But, like all bullies, their power is only given to them because no one stands up to them. Too many people avoid the forums for fear of bumping into the 'troll gang,' but if enough people got involved, it would take away their power. So please, please, get involved—this is your FORUM!

This site and forum could be a much more active community if people felt safe and got involved in forum discussions. Years ago, discussions on these very forums led to some amazing free group events and social gatherings. Ideas that were posted turned into real photoshoots. Discussions can breed inspiration, which can become reality. This is a public forum on a creative photography site, so it should be open and creative, don’t you think?

It did used to be a place where you could get inspired, get shoots from people on forums. I was happy to be involved. However, the way it is now, there's a definite change in how people are interacting. No one stands up to the trolls, that's for sure. As a female, it gets quite oppressive when I get more negativity than if I was a man.

MaristarOxley You can report posts although last time I did that Admin had obviously not read the Opening Post and kept asking questions which became pointless after a while. So I requested in a post to stick to topic. The more members discussing the better, the more prominent interesting discussions happen and Games don't dominate Recent Group Posts and General Chat etc. don't get drowned.
