An interesting Instagram change?

Of course I know full well that I am one of those people that tests the limits regarding images posted on Instagram, and long for a day when we can have an option to 'opt in' to posts with art nude images or an occasional nipple but its unlikely we will ever get it.

Something odd though has happened in the last few days with my insta and I wonder if anyone else has noticed it happening to them?

I've had a couple of 'we have removed your image' messages in the last week and of course I immediately appeal it because I don't agree with them, and going through that process of it clicking and whirring until I can finally see my own page again, (seems to take an age) only to find the image they have removed is still there.

This has happened to images on both of my accounts. This morning I had an image removed from both pages, and then 5 minutes later they are back again.

Perhaps they are replacing images while a review takes place? I'm not sure. If they are doing this its not how it used to work, images were just gone and would only reappear once a review had taken place and they sent a message saying they had reinstated the image.

Anyone else noticed this lately?

I don't use Instagram and have little knowledge of its inner workings. However the thought occurs to me: are you 100% sure you are seeing a live version of the page and not a cached version? What happens if you flush your browser cache and restart your browser? Or Look at the page with another browser?

No I had one removed last week and it stayed removed! I don't know some people get away with what they post!

For me it is a case of not rocking the boat, then you don't have any issues. Pushing the boundaries, even though you might not think you are, always ends in hassle like this. It isn't a fair system with models having 1,000s of followers getting away with more because IG can target Ads to those followers. We can't change META, so I don't even try.

I simply don't understand why people keep being jerks and trying to do this.  It's their site, with their rules, and their methods, and they won't always be consistent, but it's always their site.

Host your pictures elsewhere, and let Meta have the pretence that Instagram et al are family friendly, so they can keep their advertisers and payment processing companies happy.

Because IG have an effective monopoly on viewers*.

- do you have a website?

- has it had any visitors in the last six months?

* unless you are prepared to use Twitter. Which I'm not.

I've given up adding new images to my IG.

I had a comment removes instantly because the bot deemed to be spam. It was not. However, I really can't be bothered appealing to an organisation that doesn't keep to it's own rules.

I had one removed last week. I just let it be, largely ‘cos I don’t want to have to cope with the indignation I know I’d feel if I appealed it and failed. I do get a reasonable amount of interest from models on instagram, rather not be kicked off, and if that costs me the odd ‘tut’ and eyes heavenward moment, that’s a decent swap. It’s their bat and ball.

I wondered that, but I've checked both on my mac, and my phone and the images are both still there despite Insta telling me they have removed them.

Yeh I hear you, and I know I'm breaking their rules and kind of expect to get things removed hear and there, but yes when you see people with huge followings being able to post far more outrageous stuff it has the effect of winding me up the wrong way and makes me want to post more. It is definitely an unfair system I agree.

I have Twitter but just don't post there, its just the most god awful place full of right wing hideousness and flat out porn.

I stupidly deleted my website, god knows why, I got plenty of visitors. It was a stupid thing to do. I've started building another but my attention span is so bad I still haven't finished it after multiple weeks of fucking about with it.

Yep, fair comment. I do appreciate I am pushing their rules a bit. I just thought it weird that they would tell me they are removing images and then find that they are still there.

Ok, I think maybe its just a delay in instagram notifications, I've just got a message saying they have restored my photo, a good few hours after it actually reappeared.

@Golding I’m not disagreeing with you, just explaining that I just reckon I lose more sleep (metaphorically) if I push back, rather than say ‘ah well, onwards and upwards’
