Models - a nice upbeat post about models!

We sometimes see negative posts about models on here. Personally, I've very, very rarely had any poor experiences with models - almost all have been a pleasure to work with - but here's a nice upbeat story anyway...

I had shoots booked for yesterday and today. The model who was booked yesterday was travelling form Liverpool, a tedious journey that required two changes of train and was scheduled to take about four hours. I had a message from her at about 8.30 to say that her first train had been delayed but she would keep me updated. That she did. He second train was also delayed (apparently the driver didn't turn up!) and that meant that she would miss the connection for the third train. As if her journey wasn't tedious enough anyway... :( She continued keeping me updated and I finally met her at Bath station at 11.15 - almost five hours after she had left Liverpool (and almost seven hours since she had got up!)

We finally started shooting at about midday. Despite her having had such a long and very tedious, tiring morning we shot for about five hours. She was absolutely bl**dy brilliant - she did a lot of very physically demanding stuff (movement, bendy body shapes etc etc) but she was full of energy, enthusiasm and creativity. By the time we finished at about 5 o'clock I was totally knackered, but she could have kept going for several more hours.

So... as well as being a brilliant model (and a very lovely person), she had a great work ethic and her communications and sense of organisation were excellent. A tremendous advert for the model community. Who was it? It was https://purpleport.com/portfolio/infinitymodel/

And now a story about the shoot was booked for today. The model had told me well in advance that she had a hospital out-patient appointment booked for Thursday this week, and although she fully expected it to be minor, if things didn't go as smoothly as expected there could be a chance of her not being up to shooting today. I had an e-mail from her on Thursday evening to say that the procedure had not gone as well as expected, so she wouldn't be able to do today's shoot. She apologised profusely and she offered to reimburse me for the hire of the shoot location. How about that? Considerate, generous, or what? Needless to say I didn't accept her kind offer. [Even though I'm hugely impressed by the courtesy of the model who was booked for today, I'm not going to identify her as I've already mentioned her health situation.]

So there's a nice upbeat story about two models - a great reflection on the model fraternity on here. Sadly, though, I'm left wondering how long it will be until someone takes over the thread with model-bashing comments. :(

I had a shoot booked with a model last week.  She was a regular at the studio.

Little did I know that there had been a falling out with other people at the studio, but the model turned up and did the job expected of her without complaint.  If I hadn't known of the usual dynamic between the model and others that was missing I wouldn't have guessed there was anything wrong.

If she had told me before the shoot there was an issue I would have changed to a different studio expecting there to be issues with the shoot.

If only every model was so professional

That's been my experience in general, Orson Carter .  Virtually every model I've dealt with has been reliable, professional and extremely good at their job.

Nice, hardworking people.  Those are the ones I meet.

I think there are probably some genuine issues with shoots gone awry for people in the past, but I do agree that these seem to get a lot more air time of late than positive experiences. If the forums were the only evidence avaliable you'd almost think the negative instances accounted for the majority of shoots. Which, we all should know from personal experience, is very far from the actual truth.

Thank you for adding some positivity to the forum section, Sir! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Love to hear it 💜

Well, you're not going to hear me bashing Val. A beautiful human being on every level. I shot her at my hotel in Liverpool when I stayed there for Eurovision last year. It was a fairly nice, if slightly dated, hotel but the room was an absolute furnace (the A/C was on the blink across the hotel) yet despite shooting in a sauna (actually the popup sauna the Finnish singer parked outside Albert Dock in a publicity stunt might have been cooler) she did an incredible job.

100% in agreement about the work ethic and attitude of INFINITY Model .

On top of all that, she's also a really nice person and does go out of her way to help you out

Have had INFINITY Model at the studio for her studio day here and found her to be a great model and worked hard so totally endorse what Orson said. I would say the models I have had at the studio have been fantastic and I love running the studio and meeting them all. I hope most leave with the same attitude about the studio and myself.

Unlike the OP I think that people are more likely to moan publicly about bad experiences that good ones, especially us older men, 50 years plus grumpy gits!

Hello Mr Orson Carter,

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely post. I have not been able to shoot much in the way of personal work for quite some time.
So to come on here after quite a long break read this and see your beautiful portfolio is so uplifting.
You are an inspiration!

Lovely to hear Orson; makes a real difference when you work with respectful professionals, though i think it helps that respect flows both ways…i’ve had nothing but brilliant interactions with models that i have worked with.
