PP minimum age

I was shocked to learn that after reporting a casting looking for a ‘young teen female’ for a school themed shoot, that people can join purpleport at the age of 16.

Do we really think this is a safe and appropriate environment for a child? I understand that models under 18 will require a chaperone, but I can’t help but feel that this site in particular with the huge presence of nudity etc, it is just not a good place for someone under the age of 18.

What duty of care is in place to protect young models? Should the minimum age be raised to 18?

I think 18 as a minimum. As a mother of a 16 year old I wouldn't feel comfortable with them having access to some images that are not age appropriate.

To be absalutely honest, i do and have always thought the entire internet should be adults only........ its not a safe or healthy place

I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago https://purpleport.com/group/faq/195987/Shooting-with-models-under-the-age-of-18/

I reported this casting today and was told by the admins there was nothing wrong with it. When I posted the wording of the casting on social media, every response I got either included the word 'paedo' 'perv' 'dodgy' 'red flag' or some other variation. If that's not enough to get the admin team to at least look into it, then I don't think they should be running a site that allows under 18s as safeguarding is clearly nowhere on their agenda.

Personally I'd be more worried about "a school themed shoot".  :-(

I did a quick search and found less than 10 female models on here under the age of 18 within 1,000 miles of me who were active in the last three months. Only two of those have any references. There's a similar number of male model accounts, with only one reference between them.

Given how few there are, I'm surprised the site doesn't hasn't made 18 the minimum sign-up age to minimize potential issues.

That is of course the ones who are being truthfull about there age your searching for :-)

Exactly, if you can’t be bothered to safeguard, just raise the age.

I'm sure that Admin are very aware of the question, and also aware of exactly how many under 18s use this site.

If there are that few, any reported incidents would get leapt on pretty quickly and pretty heavily.

By contrast, how many under 18s use Instagram?  What safeguards are in place for them on there?  Ditto TikTok?

Sensual Art, as mentioned, when I reported this today it most definitely was not leapt on quickly and heavily. Maybe we should be putting more pressure on them to address concerns made by their members.

When it first started, I remember seeing a 12 year old on here with a profile. Her mum probably ran the account for her, as does every under 18 on here.

My mate says that when AdultFolio started, they had some 16 year olds on there, clearly showing their age on the profiles.

Often it is the parent being pushy. I have had shoots with 16-18s here where the mother has wanted to take charge and even up the agreed fee, trying to increase it on the day.

It’s a tricky one. I started modelling at 14 (I lied about my age!) and had a profile on another website. My parents handled my admin and chaperoned me on shoots so I was pretty sheltered and had some wonderful experiences!

Although now in my 30s, I look back and think bloody hell it would have been a different story if I didn’t have my parents around. I think the minimum age should be raised to 18, but there’s nothing stopping younger models from lying about their age.

It's not just about 'reported incidents' (and better to not have incidents in the first place), it's also about the nature of a lot of the content on here. Bringing Instagram et al into the conversation is a distraction - we are talking about this site, we can't influence (no pun intended) what Instagram does and the nature of its content is 'different'.

But was the report of an actual incident that did happen and warranted a response, or merely a second-hand concern about what might happen?
