That's interesting as there was a job up recently to be the official Downing Street photographer and the pay was a lot less than that - and crap for London IMHOhttps://findajob.dwp.gov.uk/details/15058987
I guess if there is a photographer looking for a 9-5 then it might tempting.
Having read the spec I was drawn to "Manage junior members of the team and upskill them in photographic best practise". Why not just say train?
I think the pay is poor for London but I guess it comes with the benefits of being in the civil service
Like free clothes and use of a luxury flat....?

Departmental, isn't it?
De Sousa, the American who was photographer to two presidents, produced good work, including some of historical and artistic significance.

Would be hard to get a good shot of Starmer. Right now it looks like his best side is OUTside... of the government!
Come on....depends which of his faces you're photographing surely.

Or even spell "practice" correctly.

I've got no issue with professionals getting paid, and we've got a Government who are very good at spending other people's money in power right now.
I heard Rayner's tog is on £48k a year. I hate the woman's guts, but £48k seems a bit low for the level of profile and the fact it's London?
And there really needs to be an additional amount to reflect the "arduous conditions" and "hostile environment" involved.

You're kidding. I once photographed my mother-in-law, and despite the arduous conditions and hostile environment I didn't get a penny for it. Indeed, I considered myself lucky to escape with my life.

I hope the the people who advised Rachel Reeves and allowed The Telegraph to publish the set taken pre election are no longer employed. The editorial guidelines were followed by the photographer to the tee producing a set of very unflattering to say the least images.

Well one could say "train" but at the moment the photography buzzphrase seems to be:
"...take your photography to the next level."
Everyone's offering to do this for me. Sounds more like quantum mechanics than art?

Ed Davey might be the most interesting (not in govt of course) as he's always abseilng down elephants or something.

random I have a particular disdain for people who use Corporate Buzzwords in order to "talk a good game," thinking it improves their professional perception.
On a support call with someone in my organisation the other week, someone in the team who is obsessed with corporate language said "X is at the tip of the spear of bad information."
He's just been told something that's incorrect. 😂
"Can we circle back and take a helicopter view of the current issue when I have a greater amount of bandwidth?"
What's so wrong with "Let's look at this when I've more time."
