Anyone used / played with the Canon SELPHY CP1500 Colour Portable Photo Printer. I'm thinking of getting one a) for fun stuff and b) to use as a simplistic test/ideas process.

Actually I think it's this one

I have had one for ages. I found it flimsy, very annoying, alot of effort each time something goes a bit awry, which is a fair bit of the time, and just a waste of time and money. I just put it in a drawer and stopped using it. Its like an over engineered and unfinished polaroid maker to me. And tings like the feed tray are so delicate. I really dislike mine, if you cant tell. On the best day, its like a polaroid that works with the limitations of the polaroid style.

Oh well that ends that idea! :-)
I have one. I quite like it for giving people quick photos when showing them the edits from a shoot. The quality is ok but not as good as something like photo box prints. It also struggles on the sort of monochrome high contrast stuff I shoot (see my port). There are also some issues with streaks. It's fine for what I use it for but I would try and get a sample print from someone before buying and don't expect perfection. As the poster above says, it's a bit flddley too. I'm not sorry I bought mine.
I’ve had one for about 6 months. I actually love the simplicity of it and I’m happy with the quality of the prints from it. I like that I can now print off regular shots from holidays etc and put them in albums instead of editing images for them to remain on the laptop / phone. If I had something special I would still get a proper photo book printed though. I’ve used Saal digital and they are very high quality .
I've got a couple of similar dye sub portables from about 12 yrs or so ago, used to print off images at shoots for a bit of fun, though these ones are not wireless connection. They are not able to process large files but fine direct from lower mp cameras, just about fine with a 5d11 back then. Also got a couple of zInk mini kind of business card size printers which are prints with self adhesive on reverse of print. Good for a bit of fun, hardly ever used them since switching to MF digi as couldn't connect.

I bought my kids selphys for Christmas several years back. They used them to print stuff which they then send to my mother in law (their grandma) of her great grandkids. They say they’re great but to be honest, I think they were a novelty which wore off fairly quickly
I use a instax mini evo as its a camera and a printer all in one and can connect with the phone to print a photo on the fly and its still pocketable. Might buy one of their wide portable printers at some point.
I was looking recently at the Kodak Mini shot 4 instant camera and photo that printed 4x4's it looked interesting and was tempted to buy one until I saw it was much bigger in the hand that I would have thought by looking at the photos of it onine. (Maybe a future purchase)
