To shoot or not to shoot?

So well written.
I remember listening to Voodoo Chile and how it blew my mind.
I love expressing myself with photography, drumming, joking around or discussing/debating over important things.
It‘s the manifestation of the human mind, where different levels and different layers peeled slowly like a banana, sometimes ripe and sweet, sometimes rotten inside.

Gerry99111 I see someone paying me a few £hundred for a print rather like an FPI, possibly a bit better.
Both are ways of showing someone liked ones work.
Nice, but not essential.
Print vs digital. Have to differ there. There’s something about the physicality of a print. Printing it big, framing it, and putting it on a wall is a commitment.
Using an £8 sheet of paper (Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, A2) for a print that will last 200 years instead of cheap paper that will last 20 years is a commitment too. Even if they go into landfill shortly after I do.
;)

Huw I used to believe prints were worth having and pictures fixed to the wall but I have evolved away from that. Quite a few sacred cows have been killed off over the last few years and I feel a lot freer for doing so.
There is nothing stopping you printing just as there is nothing stopping me ditching paper for reasons you are not considering.
But those reasons will be part of the reason why others also think prints are not for them.
As far as the op, it's up to each of us to decide anything is worthwhile.
I think it is and I am hardly going to listen to someone who thinks it isn't or has all been done before as they ate in the tunnel and I am not.
Anyway as you correctly surmised I don't look to please others. I am self motivated. I just need people willing and able to help me achieve things and those people are where my interest comes from in as they create by far the best opportunity.
Everything else I see as a ball and chain

Gerry99111 apart from persistence* I'd want to see a more careful calculation of environmental friendliness between display as print and display on screen.
* The dark ages were not a period when nobody made records

Gerry99111 you do make some good points there.
I burnt several bookcases full of books last week. Never going to read them again.
Haven’t read a paper book in years, not since Kindle on the iPad. I read about 100 pages per hour, so dumping paper was great.
Must sell the antique bookcases before their price crashes….
Maybe re-evaluate and sell “Affordable Art” for temporary decoration, rather than “Collectors Prints”. However, it’s well known that it’s far easier to sell a male art nude than a female one. Probably not chasing that market.
;)

I bought a magazine recently. A magazine! So weird.

Iv'e kinda saved myself from the madness of imposter syndrome by turning into a street photographer where the photography can really be crap but the context can carry it through . kinda .

I'm probably going to ignore all the soul-searching, wailing, and gnashing of teeth above and just continue to make images of everyone and anyone who'll let me. I'll probably post 'em on social media to give myself a bit of affirmation and to give some meaning to my otherwise empty & meaningless life.

I'm in a large structure of repetitive/modular nature this fortnight.
Large prints and some other artworks fixed to the walls distinguish modules.
They are also nice.
Underwater model pictures in several lifts. Nobody I know.
It helps. Also, is nice.
Book cases have become more general storage, or perhaps they always were.
Meanwhile in Lebanon and for pessimists anywhere, relying on electronic gadgets for information is a little less fashionable. It is probably possible to make a book which is good at being a book and also explodes on command, but much more bespoke, and hard to infiltrate the supply chains involved so as to get a lot of them to a lot of intended points.
Timmee best is to post them in your website, and then post links or embeds in social media, and not as shortcuts, either.

Huw I've dabbled with eBooks & whilst there is a convenience to them - especially when travelling etc., I still prefer the experience of a proper book & on a more philosophical level effort of a booking having been printed and bound adds a value to it in the way that eBooks can never achieve. Crikey - I never thought I would be the bearer of such "Crusty old curmudgeonly thoughts"... I think I'd better start looking for a retirement home...

What Website? :-D

Timmee yours ;)
The original concept of the Internet and likewise Web was a peer network, IE every computer on it able to present data to any or all others.
Much is talked about which boils down to a few huge sites with "everyone's" data in them for sharing.
Network connections have uplinks, and are quite usable for very simple web serving.

I don't think I will sleep tonight.
Just lie there worrying about you and your life.....and lack of a website.

Your concern & compassion are much appreciated.
Don't loose too much sleep! ;-)

Some of us have just found a way to be happy in the mediocrity...
... which I mostly found by not shooting anymore
