I'm mostly in the 'guns n swords n knives in model shoots' is normally naff and cliché.

I'll be more 'triggered' by copycat 'action hero' or cartoony naffness (more so as I would hate to watch the movie that the character is in / sadly often have ZERO clue who the character actually is!!)

Period 'correct' historical reenacted is something I don't mind ... hopefully in a suitable setting too.

Naffness and garish bright costumes in a crappy and tastelss / inappropriate setting is often bad enough ... throw somes guns or other weapons into the mix, justs adds insult to injury. 

Too many really crap photographers mixing something they think is sexy (which mostly isn't 🤣😂) ... and thowing in guns, swords, daggers, chainsaws or even more random equipment - thinking it now becomes more 'edgy' or clever 🥱🥱

There are always exceptions... and I will be only to willing to acknowledge them (via 'love', 'collecting' or comment) IF the quality is genre Premier League.

Guns aside - I do like to challenge myself to sometimes acknowledge excellence, even in genres or themes that wouldn't normally be 'my bag' at all. Sometimes even for blood and gore stuff or otherwise.

I used to irritate HorrifyMe by telling him his congealed blood was the wrong colour for a rotting corpse.  ;)

All sorts of props are used regularly & they're rarely used in a "documentary" style. You may as well complain about uniforms portrayed wrongly, outfits that look like fancy dress or a thousand other things. Most art nudes with a vase or urn don't look as if they're really flower arranging or collecting water.

Lighten up, it's all just trying to add a little visual interest whether it's to your taste or not.

To some viewers, yes, it does matter.

Holding a guitar or violin unconvincingly pulls me out of the photo. As do weapons of all sorts, most tools, etc. Heck, even the fake driving steering wheel jiggling can do so in a movie.

Some people won't notice; others won't care, but to some viewers, inconsistency reduces the impact of the image.
