My observation is that white models seem to get considerably more votes in Purpleport competitions than Afro-Caribbean ones and other non-white models. I find this surprising and disappointing.

Pretty models also seem to do well.
And slim models.
Even the busty models seem popular.
And well composed, perfectly exposed photographs too. It's not fair!!!
I'm always disappointed there aren't more out of focus models wearing Burkas. ๐
why would it be the case in competitions, the same people vote in competitions and give comments and likes throughout PP, are you talking about mainly your own images or all Afro-Caribean in general

The competitions are about photography, there is no other agenda in play, nor should there be.
There is indeed a larger percentage of white female models compared to male models or those from Afro-Caribbean or other ethnic backgrounds. This isn't necessarily the site's fault, nor is it an inherent bias. People vote on images they like, and personal preferences don't equate to racism or bias. i try to vote for 5 fpi image suggestions a day, i choose by the quality of the images and i don't care the colour of the models skin, today i voted for one with a male model and one with an Asian model. that's just today, stop looking for bias where there's none.
I find myself that slim, naked women under the age of 30 of any skin tone tend to do the best.
Probably due to the main demographic of users of the site who find women like this sexually attractive.
I just wish some would be honest about why they choose a photo.....
"So what made you pick that slightly out of focus and poorly lit shot of that young lady with half her labia showing"?
The artistic merit.
Yes, of course, that's almost like saying Eamonn Holmes new bit of fluff likes him for his astonishing good looks.

Margo Jost LOL, your last comment reminds me when Mrs Merton interviewed Debbie Magee. So what attracted you to the bald, pint sized, wizened, multi millionaire magician?. ๐ค

I beg to differโฆ The competitions are about anything that individual voters want them to be about. For some that may be lighting and composition. For others authenticity. Or originality maybe. Perhaps for others, perceived relevance / accuracy to the โthemeโ. And surely for some, bewbs and/or bums score the highest points. Why not skin colour / race too? Either consciously or subconsciously it seems reasonable to assume that some vote on this to a degree.

When I vote the first thing I do is see how the image relates to the theme of the competition.
Then I look at the idea, composition, lighting and editing, the pose of the model and the expression and styling, colour of skin jas never even crossed my mind, you are probably seeing more wins by white females as this site is predominantly white females. The best images win that's the end of it, race has never ever been a issue on purpleport.
YorVikIng one of the bonuses of hitting 40, you can say it how it is with liberal abandon and give zero F's ๐๐
Don't follow them, don't know the facts. But, there is a massive skew in the demographics. The vast majority of models on this site are white (I'd love ore diversity close to me, believe me), which I imagine would mean the vast majority of competition submissions are also of white models thus increasing their likelihood of winning dramatically.
One to consider.
Edit:
Just looked at the past three competitions.
91 entries, 4 non white.
86 entries, 4 non white
162 entries, 6 non white
And, from that small subset, the entries weren't good enough to win.
Again, could be totally wrong and there is something afoot, but with that level of skew, it would be impossible to say. Also, the winning photo is rarely the best photo - there's an element of subjective voting.

What country is this site aimed at mostly?
What is the majority demographic of said country?
C'mon mate, got nothing better to do than try and stir it up...
Jeez...
