Speedlight Softbox Stand Attachments

Hello again all

I am looking at purchasing a softbox or two for a Godox speedlight I have and am looking at this Neewer S bracket one which as I understand is the type I need to mount onto my speedlight.

https://amzn.to/3Cv9sqY

So as I understand from the reviews but what I'm looking for reassurance on; this softbox has a handle which also has a stand attachment, Does anyone have experience with this softbox or one similar and can vouch for this or do I need to buy a separate attachment? I'm going to be buying an attachment for my lighting stand so I can mount just the speedlight onto one of those and use it raw (ie without a softbox)

Thanks all!

Separate attachment (BOWENS) from Neweer and Godox is around 15 pounds so it's not a huge investment. I prefer normal Bowens softboxes/Octas/parabolics so you can use with other light sources. But if you want to stay in Godox speed light/AD camp, It is acceptable.

You can get an s bracket that will hold the speedlight and it mounts directly to a light stand and any s fit modifier can be attached. The item in the link looks like an s bracket integrated into a pop up modifier so your speedlight is mounted into the unit and that unit then mounts on a light stand. So slightly different. Looking at the item listed it looks like ad200 or Neewer Q3 could be mounted into it but I would check this out first. I have and use s brackets with Neewer Q3.

Theta Aeterna that's the plan in all honesty. A nice AD200Pro when budget allows 😄

Thank you for your answer!

I was there a year ago and had to go through this. After spending on useless things, I think I learned a bit :)

The bracket you need, I think, is the Godox S2... I have a couple, it can accept the Bowens S bayonet.

I have a similar-sized softbox to this one and think the Godox 1V, is a little challenged in some situations, and mostly use an AD400 Pro with it.

I bought and use the Triopo foldable softbox from Amazon, I find the handle very brittle and half expect it to break at some point but 18 months or longer it's still fine. The unit folds and unfolds by snapping each individual rod into place until it clicks, when disassembling you need to bow the rod enough to click the little locking toggle back and of course, each rod must be done individually as there is no complete foldaway option like a conventional umbrella. I'm unsure as to the size of the aperture for a Godox flash but there appeares to be plenty of room for most units.
My wife often assists me and will direct the light to my specific instructions but she found raising her arms tiring so I picked up a monopod for £5 and fitted the appropriate spigot so that the two could be married together via the handle hole, this has enabled my wife to raise the softbox without effort. It fits on to a conventional light stand and has a tilt function by a wheel on the handle, just undo it to your ideal angle.

Overall I am happy with the unit, I find it very convenient for my style of photography and mine came with an egg crate grid which you can tear down should you wish.

I can recommend

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bracket-Softbox-Portable-AD200Pro-AD400Pro/dp/B09CYNZYY2/

Gives you the S2 bracket that can be used with either the softbox, other bowens mount modifiers or without anything. The whole thing folds up I to a convenient pack if you need to carry it somewhere or store it away.

FarmerSteve thank you this looks like what I'm looking for!

I have two of those softboxes, they kind of hook over the flash mount, I’ve used them for several years, they fold nicely flat when not in use.
