I’m struggling to see any change of direction.

FunPhotographer exactly, I read them and they just seem to reiterate what I've said but seems the issue needs to raised again for admin to see the demand for it maybe?

The whole world uses the Gregorian Calendar. It's been here since the 16th Century. I'm sure the Pupleonian Calendar for 20 people will work for them.

I think that ISO8601 is more relevant here than the Gregorian calendar?

Mercia Storm I'm glad you ran that up the flagpole {FX: salutes}

When I have to start a week, I do so on the Monday.

Yes please! I've been saying this forever! Perhaps the option to have Sunday or Monday if people can't agree?

The OP:

Would it be at all possible to have the option of having the Purpleport calendar start on a Monday please?

(my emphasis)

I'm 100% in support of that.

But then:

Jeremy Guest except as several others have agreed, this isn't the case at all. You look at any other calender and its Monday-Sunday. It's a case of having the purpleport calendar fit in with the format of pretty much every other digital and analogue calendar out there as stated in my original post

Pix Photography you sound like the exception to the rule here I'm afraid

which both talk about weeks starting on a Monday as though it's the One True Wayâ„¢

Reiterating the links that I gave earlier:

see:

These both acknowledge that it's a cultural thing.  Indeed, the first of those has the results of a survey showing that it's fairly evenly split between the two.

So, to repeat: I fully support the OP's suggestion that we should have the option.  However, PP should remain culturally-neutral and not force a change on us which would alienate vast tracts of its target audience.

Sensual Art sorry am I not allowed to bring up evidence and anecdotes to support my argument and further my point? 😄 I'm not saying my way or the highway, just pointing out that starting on a Monday seems to be the majority, and Purpleport being a majority UK user based site, the way I've suggested seems to be the most logical?

I think that in the US Sunday is considered the first day of the week (and some religions), but in Europe, and the ISO standard, it is Monday. More importantly however, most* calendar Apps I have seen allow you to specify which day of the week is the first day, or to use the systems default (and most OSs allow you to set the system default to any day).

So if PP did that, everyone would be happy - and from a personal point of view I would set it to Monday so it is the same as every other calendar I use, either computer based or physical.

*by most, I mean with the exception of PP I couldn't find one that didn't - but I am sure there are some.

The US does consider Sunday the start of the week; I'd never run across a Monday start until dealing with UK-based folks, even though many calendar apps offered that as an option.

I still see no change of direction. At no point did the OP suggest that the current Sunday start should be taken away as an option later in the discussion.

I am pleased we (nearly all) agree that having the option to choose from a Sunday/Monday start would be beneficial.

I will leave the discussion to allow others to have their say, and hopefully see a decision from PurplePort.
