I think that in the US Sunday is considered the first day of the week (and some religions), but in Europe, and the ISO standard, it is Monday. More importantly however, most* calendar Apps I have seen allow you to specify which day of the week is the first day, or to use the systems default (and most OSs allow you to set the system default to any day).

So if PP did that, everyone would be happy - and from a personal point of view I would set it to Monday so it is the same as every other calendar I use, either computer based or physical.

*by most, I mean with the exception of PP I couldn't find one that didn't - but I am sure there are some.

In support of this, see:

Would it be at all possible to have the option of having the Purpleport calendar start on a Monday please?

Might just be me being dense but I glance at it often and with every other calendar in my life starting on a Monday, I often get confused and caught off guard with the days being set out different and have several times now initially suggested a Friday to a photographer thinking this was actually the Saturday and had to go back and correct myself

Thank you!

I support this! There are some more religious cultures with Sunday as the first day, still, most working days start at Monday. All office jobs start at Monday. There is a reason we call Saturday and Sunday "weekend", and not" week start"

Thank you all for the mostly in favour responses

Personally I do not see what difference it makes, I am more interested in the date of the month rather than what day it is. Some people think a week is Sunday to Saturday while others think Monday to Sunday. Either way some think one way and others think differently. Its another case of what you prefer but not what others do.

My last 29 years at work had been based around a Sunday starting week.... starting on a Monday would really mess with my head.

Jeremy Guest except as several others have agreed, this isn't the case at all. You look at any other calender and its Monday-Sunday. It's a case of having the purpleport calendar fit in with the format of pretty much every other digital and analogue calendar out there as stated in my original post

Pix Photography you sound like the exception to the rule here I'm afraid

If it makes people happier than Monday to Sunday is fine by me, either which way it will work for me.

As @Mercia Storm said in the original post it would be good to have the *option* of a Monday start.

It looks like it should be the *default* option based on most opinions here, but there’s no reason why those that prefer the Sunday option shouldn’t be able to select that instead.

A good example of a relatively quick and simple thing to do to improve the site for the membership.

FunPhotographer thank you for actually reading what I've written. I can change what day the week starts on my phone and Outlook calendar, it would be helpful to have these on here too

FunPhotographer in the opening post, yes, but later ones have changed direction from that.
