New Screen with Higher Resolution - F doesn't work

I have always used the "F" key when scrolling through images, it sets the image to fill the screen and is very helpful.  Recently I upgraded my screen with a higher resolution than my old one and guess what - "F" doesn't work as before. Pressing "F" I now get part of the image on my screen - usually, but not always, the bottom half.

My old screen resolution was 1920 x 1080. My new screen resolution is 2560 x 1440.

Have I missed a trick in setting up my new PC / screen ? Or does this need a PurplePort fix?

Grateful for any ideas / fixes.

Mine is 2560 x 1440 and F works a treat.

Sorry I can't offer a solution, but its worth persevering.

Assume you've set the size correctly in the Operating System?

Does that apply to landscape oriented images as well?

Yes checked with settings - as recommended both resolution and refresh rate

Perhaps your Purple Port is not at 100% - For me on Mac this is adjusted by Apple Key held and '+' or '-' not sure for Windows, but I'd guess this is the concern.

Might be worth mentioning what O/S you are using?

I will say very few images on here totally match the ratio and fill the screen totally so you have a border on the sides or top/bottom.

I'm using Windows 11, Set to 100% size.

Landscape images fit without using the "F" key. Only portrait images seem to be the problem. Only the bottom half appears complete with the associated text of photographer/model etc.

So PeterB109 just to be clear. Before you hit the 'F' key when you view images on the screen maximised, you can scroll through images and find that the landscape images show complete, but the portrait images have the bottom just off-screen, correct.?

When you hit the 'F' key what happens? ...because that's when you need to have the browser display the PP page at 100% (ctrl + zero on Windows I think).

What's the screen make and model ?

As of now the browser is set to 100%., I've just checked again to make sure I understand what is happening.

When scrolling images, those in landscape fit very nicely, so I do not need to use the "F" key.  However, when I press "F" exactly the same thing happens as with images in portrait. The pictures is enlarged and just the bottom half plus associated text (photographer, model etc)  appear.

Images in portrait mode do not fit the screen and to see the whole picture I need to scroll up and down. Obviously the "F" key worked very well in scaling the image to fit my screen but now the image is enlarged and just the lower half plus text appear.

Have checked settings again and both display and size are as recommended at 2560 x01440 and 100%. Restarted PC to see if that made a difference, which it did not.

BTW - thanks to all for your advice, ideas and suggestions. No doubt it will prove to be something simple in due course ;-)

Have you cleared the browser cache and/or restarted it?

Looks like we overlapped, but yes - just restarted

Idly glancing at an image in recent uploads, I noticed a small dotted square icon located between "collect" and a gear wheel icon top right. Mousing over it showed the label "open in full screen mode" so I did. Bingo. Portrait images fill the screen, as do landscape images. Other crop formats also fill vertically or horizontally according to their crop format. Works like "F" it just isn't "F".

Looks like I have a good working solution. Thanks to all for your assistance with this problem.

I glad you've found a way of getting a working full screen (by clicking the sq icon) but...we know it should have made no difference by hitting that 'F' key. At a guess I'd say your 'F' key must be already allocated to come other (Windows perhaps or the monitor utility) function that is being called. Not that it now matters, but the curious mind boggles at this one.

I agree. It's a bit odd, but this version of Win11 seems to do some slightly strange things - quite different from Win 11 on other machines and of course very different from Win 10. You do have me very curious and after my shoot today I will hunt around and see if I can find id "F" is already allocated to another function. If I find anything, I will post it

As promised I had a look around my Win 11 version to see if I could find a pre-allocated function for the "F" key. Nope, nada, zip, zero, nothing.

Lots of shortcut keys, only a few with the F key, but all with some preceding key such as the Windows key, ALt, Control or Shift; often in various combinations. So I'm settling for what I've got with the square icon and perhaps may stumble on the answer some day - but I'm not looking any more. Consider the subject closed (unless you find the answer) :-)
