ID Checks - Do We Need Them?

JME Studios wouldn't say I got mugged, we made no date agreement for a shoot and it was clear this was going nowhere. When I think about it you get similar behaviour from some models who don't deactivate though rarely now since I shoot less.

This thread has become quite strong in terms of the topic people are commenting on. Not sure it's entirely necessary but some like attention.

FarmerSteve I think that's a very fair point

It's definitely off the original topic, ish. And that was me -- I didn't intend to drag it off topic but I did want to answer in-line about some of the stuff that makes more immediate sense for the OP specifically than relying on ID checks. Apologies.

Whatever ID is, doing it reliably is hard and excessive effort, and relying on a vague sight of a picture of a document is mostly performative.

There really are systems that can do this at a level that satisfies UK government. Stripe Identity is as I understand it derived from work done for Deliveroo, and presumably satisfies government that people are entitled to work, etc. (It's also used to verify recipients in Stripe Connect, which was similarly derived from work done for Deliveroo, so I've seen it in use, if not integrated directly with the Identity API. Stripe Connect is really impressive and very easy to get started with; if I were building a Purpleport or Modelfolio competitor now, I'd consider it.)

It wouldn't require uploading files to Purpleport that were subsequently forwarded to Stripe, because it works with a modal like they use for credit cards. You're only ever interacting with Stripe (which most of us who buy things online have already done).

It's not particularly difficult to integrate, either. Not really more difficult than more advanced Stripe payments.

But it costs £1.25 per verification, and it may (I haven't checked) have other technical/legal minimum requirements that Purpleport may not meet.

MidgePhoto You're right, but - and this isn't a personal attack given your avatar - look at how attached we got to masks during the pandemic. Yet they were literally nothing more than pure theatre, to foster a sense of security. They made Governments look like they were doing something.

Don’t need ID checks on this. Use your judgement imo and if you’re concerned about age, either don’t shoot or check ID then. Lots of ways to do that.

PP verified ID is worthless.

Shooting obscene photos of an under age model is an “absolute offence”, just like a firearm offence. If you do it, you are guilty, no excuse.

My daughters could swap passports when one was 16 and the other was 19.

JME Studios that is pathetic. Sorry.

I reckon there's a far greater need for pay cheques.

JME Studios that's very wrong. Masks are quite effective, as part of the Swiss cheese model...

As is air filtration and ventilation.

Your innate immune system makes infection by a dose of a few viral particles unlikely (less so for Ebola, Varicella, and Variola) and if your adaptive immune system is given a clue or two that increases the infective dose.

So layers of protection reducing the dose that reaches you are effective.

Damp it down enough and the chain reaction fizzles.

The offence is in relation to indecent images and there is no finite definition of what that might be.

The basic surgical masks - which were all that was available at the start of the pandemic due to chronic under investment- protected other people more than the wearer.

It was of course, up to you to decide if protecting other people was worth the minor inconvenience of wearing one.

and again we are totally off the OP's question or does masks have something to do with ID, oh yeah can't totally recognise someone lol
