Now I'm sure I'm going to get told I need to be better at not getting myself mugged, however I've noticed a lot of "models" come on only to get removed PDQ.
I'd opened a conversation up with a new model about shooting earlier this week. Conversations were in-depth enough that I suggested firing a mood board over on Instagram due to the limitations of our messaging system.
So she said "loads of people are asking that so I'll get one set up."
So she starts an Instagram page, follows me, and I fire some sample images over, she likes them, we agree to get a date in the diary.
There's one red flag I should have spotted; because she was claiming to be 18 as is my personal rule I asked to see some I.D. She said she'd bring it to the shoot but I said I'd prefer her just to take a pic and whack it over on Insta as I knew she might "forget" to bring it. I've already come across one model who lied about her age on PP (she was, thankfully, honest about it and I was able to stand the shoot down but she was, genuinely, a professional model, dancer & influencer) so it makes me uber-cautious.
Her response was that she didn't want to send me ID over Instagram DMs.
I've logged on to PP this afternoon, and with all the predictability of Greece voting for Cyprus at Eurovision, she's been removed.
Now, it's been suggested in the past that PurplePort set up honey trap profiles. If they do that, fair play to them.
But it's happened a couple of times recently. Whilst I appreciate putting extra barriers up to new models is probably counter-productive whilst the scene is on a slowdown, I do wonder if I.D. checks would be beneficial?
