ID Checks - Do We Need Them?

Personally I’d never send a photo of my ID to anyone, so I can understand why they would go quiet. But asking them to bring ID with them is ok.

and again we are totally off the OP's question or does masks have something to do with ID, oh yeah can't totally recognise someone lol
well it is the PP forums and it's gone beyond page 1. However to be fair it was the OP who mentioned masks in the first place :)

Too right. The member concerned was removed. I hope is was not because she refused to send ID to another member.

Covid hasn't gone away...
There is a forum for discussion: https://purpleport.com/group/coronavirus-covid-19-discussion-data-and-advice/
The antivaxers and mask deniers tend to avoid it because proof is required.

Valis Volkova Quite so. It's most certainly irresponsible to send pictures of your ID to Joe Stranger on the Internet, as then they've got at least one "authentic" means of impersonating you.

Lessons learnt, on the ID front. So the rather eclectic derailment, of which I was partly guilty, was not for naught.
I am extremely confident that the model was not removed over refusing to send ID ahead of a shoot.
I did not make any reports.

The model was removed because they (hint: probably a man) were using someone else's photos, and when our lovely Admin asked for a picture of them that would confirm they were the model, they didn't respond.

I wasn't saying it had gone away but thats not what this original forum post was about, off topic as normal

Stop messaging new models then as this seems to be a constant grumble you have. It starts with I was chatting to this new model then insert problem! This is why I don’t even look at new models. I book reliable and professional and I never have any grumbles
In fact I went all the way down to Devon last week after arranging for Amie Bolton to meet me there at the location. It never crossed my mind she might no show me because I knew I’d booked a reliable and professional model. It was awesome knowing I could depend on her and bless her she got there before me!

same here. In fact I would suspect someone who asked for it was planning a bit of identity theft.

Again I take all the points raised.
In the end, it looks like Admin did their own due diligence on this particular con artist.
It remains a concern; those pictures had to belong to *somebody* even if it wasn't the person operating the account.
That person created a PP profile and even an Instagram using the likeness of someone else, who probably doesn't know that their holiday snaps (and a pic of them in school uniform) have been used in this manner.
We can speculate as to the motives of the con artist - honey trap, scam, whatever - but it is quite concerning.

Admin probably got the heads up from someone. It it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's probably a duck. So an "18 year old" with images dressed as a school girl and various other fairly provocative images offering topless should send a run to the hills alarm frankly.
