Not active

I’m sure like other photographers I use the search facility to find models but I do find it somewhat disheartening when it says they last logged in 3,4,5 years ago!!! Chances are they will never read or respond to me reaching out to them. Is there a way that maybe pp admins could reach out to them to see if they still want an active account? Yes I know I can sort and select last logged in but honestly why have an account if you are not going to log in more frequently? All seems a bit pointless and finding models now is becoming harder.

I suppose some models move on to do other things and unless they deactivate their account it remains open in perpetuity. Sadly some models and photographers have died and their accounts remain open.

A lot of inactive models here are still active on other platforms

Laura - I, too, wish there would be a culling of 'not logged in since the days the dinosaurs roamed the earth' accounts.

I routinely set my search filter to 'last logged in within 14 days'. (Personally, I reckon that if someone wants to arrange shoots on here, they'll have logged in more recently than that.) Depending on the area I'm searching, the '14 day' filter usually removes between 40% and 60% of models from a search. That a whopping percentage of models who, it seems, aren't currently enthusiastic about arranging shoots via this site.

I'm obviously not suggesting a culling of 'not within 14 days' accounts. People take breaks for a variety of reasons. But 'not logged in for 3, 4 or 5 years' - that's not what I'd expect from someone who genuinely wants to arrange shoots on here.

As far as models are concerned we live in the arse end of the universe and if (and it’s a big if) you find an active model here arranging a shoot is like winning the lottery. It’s Too wet, too cold, too windy, yup the weather here sucks, so as this little country is battered by the weather and not forgetting Irish models are as rare as hens teeth chances are you’ll find very few models active here in not so sunny Ireland …… I gave up looking

Ohhhh and Michelle and I are from Yeovil lol

I think a few of these accounts are from travelling models based in other parts of the world and visiting the UK. They might set up an account to help them get shoots while here for a couple of weeks, then never use it again.

But there is indeed also a huge number of UK models who haven't logged in since forever...

Orson Carter exactly that. X

I haven't been active on another platform for years, but would be again if they made some improvements. If someone instead tried to force me to be active or culled, I'd probably delete and never rejoin.

There are models I know that have become inactive to bring up very young children but may actually come back and model when in suits them. How do you think they will feel if all the references they earned years ago are all deleted just to preserve a photographers view of neatness. Will that attitude be enough to persuade them never to come back? The site gave you tools to filter them out completely.

Yet you don't mention all the lurker accounts that have never done anything, have 4 random images but keep looking at profiles. Some have been active doing just that for over 8 years. That is far more annoying as those people look nothing more than image harvesters and never did anything else.

The site should be protecting model accounts that were used as they have stayed and could be viable again. Too many get forced off the site by the poor behaviour of photographers.

If there were enough models for you to shoot, you wouldn't be worried about ones you don't want to shoot

I also find it far easier to spot fake accounts using model images from a model that has stopped or paused if their genuine account still exists and can be easily found

Gerry - I think we'll have to agree to disagree about inactive accounts. But I totally agree with you about lurker/possible image harvester accounts. I block them.

Couldn't the site just render an account invisible after a certain period of inactivity, and then allow it to reappear in searches if the user returns? Seems logical to me. and would be a reason to be an active part of the community i would think that would be a plus.

That way, you wouldn’t need to rejoin after a long period of inactivity—just sign back in, get involved, and you’re right back where you left off. Plus, if you’ve been inactive for a while, you wouldn’t be cluttering search results or wasting people’s messages.

Orson Carter you use the site tools as I do.

There is a filter that allows you to hide profiles that have been inactive for periods up to 180 days.

You shouldn't need the site to do anything else if you use that and why should others who disagree with you have their view of the site be changed in a way they cannot stop

Model-wise, if they haven’t been active for 2–5 years, are the images even relevant anymore? A photographer might get away with showing older high-quality images because they can still reach that standard or better, but models’ photos are meant to represent how they look now, not 5 years ago. A lot can change in that time—multiple piercings, tattoos, hairstyle and color, aging, home etc etc.

ANDY00 you have not read my posts properly and their references are part of them and if you pressurise them, it is pretty certain they will leave and never come back. Plus genuine accounts are useful to spot fake ones using stolen images, but I already said that.

Use the site filter given for such a purpose and stop deciding what is best for everyone else

yes an invisible account would be a good option......
