Group search is broken

Sensual Art

By Sensual Art, 1727699992

I'm pretty sure this has been raised before, and probably multiple times, but it's still a problem.

Reproduction:

  • Pick a group, any group.  I happened to be looking in the Games group, but it happens in all of them.
  • Click the Search button.
  • Enter a word to search for.  I tried anaglyph, because that's what I was looking for on this particular occasion, and I expected very few search results, but I get the same result if I use probably the most common word in that group - image.
  • Click Search.

What I expect is every post which contains that word.  In the case of the word anaglyph I probably do, but in the case of the word image I only get a small number.

In both cases, though, it then reverts to simply listing a subset of the posts, whether or not they include the search term.  I can't see any specific pattern to which ones get returned, but it's not the set of results I wanted.

I've tried reproducing what you have described, but the group search is working for me as I'd expect: posts containing that word are listed.

Can you share a screenshot of what you see?

Sensual Art Works perfectly for me too. (Firefox 115.15.0 ESR (64-bit) on Debian v13). I even joined the "Games" group just to try your exact search. :-)

What browser are you using? Have you tried flushing cookies and cache, and/or using another browser? My gut feeling is that your issue is due to some persistent data remaining on your own system rather than a problem with the site.

I can't find the Games group.

It works for me, but as ever I would prefer it to show the title of each post rather than the entire thing. It's a real pain to scroll through them all to find the one you want.

You're probably not a member of the "Games" group. In which case you will need to find it and join it.

  • Click "Groups" from the top menu.
  • Select "Find & Join" button.
  • Type "Games" in the search box and hit "return" key.
  • Click on "Games".
  • Click "Join This Group" button.

Depends what you mean by "top groups" - which in turn depends on you're interested in. The Macro Photography group is interesting if you like that sort of thing. The Old lenses, Classic Lenses, Manual focus lenses, Lens hacking group is fun - there are some astonsihingly knowledgeable people on this site.

My main cameras are Lumix ยต4/3, so the Micro 4/3rds group was of interest for a while - though I think its years since anyone has posted in that group. The OIL & WATER (HOW TO DO IT) group might be with a look. I love chaperones, or not? can be quite entertaining at times. And as a died-in-the-wool Penguinista, I had to join the Linux for Post-Processing group.
