I don’t think there’s a 'return to factory settings' button for this. Unfortunately, you may need to rebuild it the way you like from scratch sorry 

Maybe a device update has changed sizes of things such that the old layout is now impossible.

There is a reset option on gadgets which will put it back to defaults, but that probably is not something you want.

We haven’t change it, and there is no functionality for us to meddle with people’s gadget settings.

That is what I have been trying to do. I can change the position of the gadgets but "recent discussions" was formerly a column on the left with recent images. random images and popular images on the right. 

I can't find a way of reducing the size of the discussion list to what it was before.

Seriously though sounds like it's the page size or columns viewed that's altering viewed layout as all items are still there just not being viewed as before. Could be you've added extra columns or images viewed in a particular field. I remember making a dog's dinner of how I viewed once. Try starting from the top and adjust each item.

Nope, I have made no alterations. It has happened spontaneously. :(

Go to the spanner button. Sometimes I find gadgets disappear when using my tablet but that is probably swiping without knowing.
