Adult images in the Shoutbox

Just wondering if we really need Adult images posted in the Shoutbox. We don't have them in Recent Images and probably other Image Features. It might just be me not wanting Bits as the central part of the image but I'm sure it isn't.

Em - No bits can be seen at the moment, but it's a shout box. As much as there are definitely things I don't like—personally, I really don't enjoy seeing male nudes or certain styles of female nudes—everyone has a right to their own art or interpretation of it. In my view, I learn to move past what I don't like. Art shouldn't be censored to just one type, or we'd all be stuck looking at the same boring image every day - learn to scroll past, like what you like, let others like what they like...

Dunno about shoutbox ('fraid I don't have it switched on) but Adult pics - even ones with full-on gynecology -  are shown in recent uploads.

they are also blanked out in the shoutbox as long as adult is unticked, I just tested it

Shouldn't the shoutbox work in parity with your site NSFW / Adult settings?

So ... if you don't want to see Adult images, shouldn't you, the user, take responsibility and unselected 'Adult' from your viewing choices.

That would make more sense than try to dictate what others see based on your choices.

Who knows, some people might like seeing genitalia ... there is after all plenty of it on here

I tried it too.  And you are right it does work.  Unfortunately the PP definition of ‘adult’ is very wide.  So just now unticking the box led to two ‘Shoutbox’ images being blocked out.

One was of the ‘showing bits’ variety of which I’m not fond - by the ubiquitous usual suspect.

The other was a perfectly innocuous (imho) glamour shot of a model topless in stockings and suspenders with knickers on.

Id prefer the first to be excluded as genuinely ‘adult’ but the other - while clearly NSFW - was not and (again imho) should not be.  It’s a shame we have this Small Faces approach.

its the position of her hand that makes it Adult under PP's guidance of what constitutes adult

I don't like to Blank out Adult Image options as so many people confuse it with NSFW. Any adult style images passing through Recent Images are not labelled correctly.

The borders around defining styles in photography are, and always have been, uncertain—we all know this. All adult images are considered NSFW, but not all NSFW images are classified as "adult." That’s why, depending on your job, you can turn off the NSFW shout box widget while at work as a last resort. However, it's nearly impossible to define styles with enough accuracy, and they've been trying to agree on that for four decades. Photography might be a dead industry before that happens.

I don't use shoutbox, and I also spend most of my time on here hiding both NSFW and Adult images.

I don't expect others to use the site in the same way that I do, and nor do I feel the need to complain when someone else uses the site differently.

hold up... are we agreeing here, or are you accusing me of complaining? Because I can assure you, I am absolutely not complaining in any way

If some users don't like the content posted by a certain photographer... why not just block them?

Save yourself - and us - some grief.

I'm not accusing you of anything.

Not really sure how you lept to that conclusion either.

If you want to complain... feel free. I'm not going to stop you.

There’s no need for that kind of response. Clickmore is entitled to their opinion, just as everyone who politely replied is. However, your harsh comment comes across as unnecessarily blunt, if you don't like this thread and it (brings you grief) you also have the ability to scroll past this just like the images :-)

If only it were that easy.

Blocking does not block the photographers images it just blocks you from interacting with them
