Painfully slow notifications

ADWsPhotos

By ADWsPhotos, 1652708364

Today whenever I notice I have notifications when I hit the speech bubble, several seconds can pass before anything happens.  Then either the notifications appear, or the icon stops flashing but stays red.  If I refresh the page the icon goes blank.  If eventually I get the notifications to appear there are new ones.  Same is true on imac, iPad and iPhone, all running latest OS and Safari

I have had the same issue.

I sometimes get a single notification but it turns out to be two but not often 🙂

Still just as slow - notably slower than normal - which is, in my experience, pretty much instantaneous

Absolutely fine for me with Firefox under Linux and Chrome on Android.

All is good for me too, and I have switched on and enabled a lot more notifications for the last week or so.

It speeded up a bit but now it's back to very slow.  I really don't understand as I'm getting it on multiple devices, both on my local network and via 4G.  I'm amazed no one else barring Fantasia has seen this

Apart from this the rest of the site is working OK

Do you know how to use developer tools in a web browser?

Russ Freeman not really but give me a clue - btw just after I sent my last message the site was taken down.

I’ll try with Firefox later - since the site came back up it’s not as slow - when I posted last the notification showed I had a bunch, but it was basically non responsive.

Update - it’s now back to what I’m used to - scratches head …

I took it down for a couple of minutes to recycle everything, just in case it might make a difference.

I don't think it helped, but it's often worth doing as we rarely reboot/recycle things.

That is odd. Since others don't experience the problem it kinda suggests a local network problem, but you said you experienced it on multiple devices.

If you get it again perhaps try using your mobile device and mobile network. If it's fast on your mobile network but slow on your wifi devices then it must be a local problem. If it's slow on mobile network and wifi then it must be a PP slowdown.

Thanks Russ, I did try the mobile just on 4g and it was exactly the same, so I don’t think it’s a lan issue. What was most odd was that the rest of the site was responding as normal.  Now it’s working as expected.  Always worth smacking the lid eh?

It's definitely a puzzle. I'd expect large chunks of the site to suffer too.

Indeed, or switching it off and back on again :-p
