Suggestion: Life Drawing as model work option

This may have been suggested before as I know a number of members on here do life drawing or painting.

I attend a life drawing group and have noticed that some models refer in their profile text to posing for life drawing but it's not a work option within the list specified.

Would it be useful to add Life Drawing to the list of work styles a model offers?

Good suggestion.

Thanks Orson Carter, I'm pleased someone agrees with me!

Not just Orson.

I agree absolutely.

This is a great idea ! hopefully it will soon be added as an option.

.. and for photographers / studios, too?

I disagree. If a model is comfortable posing nude for photographers, why wouldn't he/she be comfortable doing the same for artists with pencil or paintbrush? Life modelling also isn't so straight forward, there's modelling for artists and posing at stag/hen parties. There are far too many options to chose from in shoot styles as it is, so why complicate it further?

Admin haven't gotten around to defining Dance and Cosplay in their article and there's so much overlap, just tell me what fashion model wouldn't pose in a wedding outfit for example? Or what is covered by Commercial: modelling cosplay outfits for a catalogue, posing nude for a skin care products manufacturer...Etc? I could go on but surely: Clothed, Swimwear, Lingerie, Topless, Nude and Adult are sufficient to define the types of work anyone is prepared to do? With Bondage, Dance and Fitness to highlight specific abilities.

Perhaps we should hear from models who have experience at holding poses for life drawing sessions.  From the posts I've seen on here about it, it's not something that all models would want to do.

More interesting as a question is whether there would be sufficient demand for that work option to justify it.

Better get a pencil. Life drawing is a very different skill and could be a group. Worth adding.

Ah, sorry.  Yes, you're right.

It would be useful for me but more so for models who would be willing or want to pose nude for an artist but not for a photographer. This is not unusual.

Imagine this scenario:-  A model does not have nude ticked in her profile. How am I then to know she is willing to pose for life drawing? I can ask but risk getting the boot from PP.

I think it is a no brainer!

Thats an excellent way of deffining it.  Hiring a life model 1-2-1 in my view is unproductive (thats unless of course you create a second Mona Liza) and can work out expensive for the artist if fine detail is required especially if using oils on a specific pose which of course would not work for a group or club life drawing class. On the other hand it may not be a great source of income for the model unless there is a group which is the best way to go for experience and life drawing practice and advancement. It would be interesting to hear the models views and rates they would be happy with to make it all worth while.

Definately a no brainer and also agree with all the other positive points on here. A great option for the model.
