Microsoft Copilot AI

Suddenly turned up on my laptop after an update to Win 10.
Stuck its icon on the taskbar too.

Anyone used it for AI image generation, etc.?

I'm inclined to delete it (if I can...) unless its as good as Photoshop AI.

Too much snooping I fear.

Horrid idea.

Is it just replacing the old Cortana search box ?

It's an uphill battle to keep turning off the things that get added.

Yep.

Cheeky feckers just installed it with an update to Win 10.

Work laptop.
Many many £ millions worth of other people's research data.
No way Microsoft can be allowed to AI that.

I think they are going to come unstuck on that.

The EU has already forced them to deactivate it.

As an example, most companies don't allow the use of Google translate for more than four or five words....

Microsoft 365 Copilot is an AI-powered digital assistant designed to help you with a range of tasks and activities in your apps.

Copilot activity history is the record of the prompts and responses that you have with Microsoft 365 Copilot. Examples of Copilot activities include asking Copilot to help you rewrite a paragraph in a Word document or asking Copilot to generate a to-do list from your notes in OneNote

Tracks what you do, keeps a record, writes your documents, and they want to charge  £20 per month!

Apple intelligence is now available as a beta release. Seems to link Siri with ChatGPT.

Quite apart from the wholesale invasion of privacy, I deeply resent the suggestion that I'm somehow not capable of writing a sentence on my own.

Deleted it. don't want it.

Issue is windows 11 will have this crap on and installed by default.

Bugger.
I was considering buying a MacBook if I couldn't delete it from the Windows laptop.

My iPad mini 6 can't use AI; the new iPad mini has 8 GB of RAM specifically to use AI, so I may not get one.

Far as I know (and it certainly used to) Microsoft CoPilot uses Dall-E 3 for its image generation. Photoshop's image generation is comically bad when you compare to the big boys, Dall-E 3 included.

However, I imagine it's limited in what it can do in terms of manipulating/extending existing images and utilising image ratios outside of 1:1. It's also (assuming still) limited in resolution, working at an underwhelming 1024x1024.

Photoshop will go higher than this, obviously, but with a big reduction in image quality and sharpness.

For ref, here's an image created using the prompt

'a women in a long flowing red dress posing in a misty, moss covered ancient forest with sunrise breaking through the canopy to her side. Digital photograph'

In Bing/CoPilot chat (using the Dall-E 3 engine)

And one using the same prompt for Midjourney

And this was the best Photoshop managed to do (and I do mean best of the three versions)

Kirk Schwarz said, 1729805862

Again, copilot

Midjourney

+1. Applications only appear on my machines when I specifically choose to install them, and I grant the necessary permissions.
