Gels and subtle colour

After initially absolutely hating gels as a photographic tool I have started to fall in love with the idea and am keen to explore what more I can achieve with colours in shoots.  I am not talking about flooding images with different coloured lights, but instead flecks of colour that add interest, depth, dimension and attitude to a shot.  Here is an example from a recent shoot: Gel Shot

Where

My studio is based just outside Huddersfield.  It is warm (probably too warm at this time of year) and large enough to allow for social distancing.  I am also happy to wear a mask for shooting if it makes you feel more comfortable, please mention this when contacting me.

Who

Ideally you will have striking facial structure and the ability to strike angular poses and strong shapes.  You will also have a lot of patience as the success of this kind of shoot is in the attention to detail and that means a lot of faffing about with lights.  

What

My shoot style is very relaxed.  I like to chat and drink tea during a shoot :) and focus on getting the right image rather than just shooting hundreds of images and hoping one or two turn out well.  A shoot like this probably needs to last 3hrs and following the shoot you should expect between 5-10 individually edited images.  They will be delivered to you within about 3 weeks of the shoot.  I am quite slow at editing, partly because my job is very busy and partly because I like to revisit images a few times, a bit like proof reading a document I like to check what I might have missed.  I am happy working to any level but try to avoid anything that could be classed as glamour, its just a person stylistic preference.

When

I am free evenings (except Wednesday and Friday) and weekends.  I only do a maximum of two shoots a week so can get quite booked up.
