Model Shoot at Govan Graving Docks

Join us for a splendid shoot at the Govan Graving Docks.

We scouted this area a few weeks ago and found the dock bursting with character. Fantastic views of the Clyde and Pacific Quay with the Hydro, Armadillo Science centre as a backdrop. This would look amazing at Sunset.
The docks themselves are full of amazing features with capstans and deep docks where ships were maintained. The site also includes the derelict old pump house, roofless with fabulous windows for framing a model.

The area is derelict and a certain amount of caution is to be observed. Some of the holes in the pathways go all the way down…. But that won’t get in the way of a great shoot.

Due to the winter weather we will keep this date loose and give a few options, just in case! Our proposed date, weather permitting, is Saturday 17th November at 5PM (to catch the sunset)
In case the weather is against us on Saturday we have a second date Sunday 18th November. The shoot is on a tfp basis.
We will keep you posted nearer the date.

A bit more about the docks:

An outstanding graving dock complex without parallel in Scotland. 3 major dry docks, associated quays, capstans and bollards, pumphouses, workshops and other ancillary buildings, retaining and boundary walls, ramped accesses and stairs. The dock walls and quay edges are of grey granite, the working surfaces whinstone setted, and retaining walls and ramp sides are of cream sandstone. Cast-iron gatepiers.

Built for the Clyde Navigation Trust during the years when the Clyde yards led the world in the building of sophisticated merchant ships, so the complex is of architectural/historic interest in an international context, of major significance in terms of the history of the world shipbuilding. Docks Nos 1 and 3 were each the deepest in Britain when built and could take the largest ships afloat.(Historic Scotland)
