Join us in February 2018 for a photographic adventure to Venice for the Carnival, but uniquely we will also have our own model and Venetian style dress (and other outfits) for our exclusive use.
We will be visiting the carnival for the final weekend (9th to 11th Feb 2018) of the event when literally thousands of amazing costumed characters will be available to be photographed from simple jesters to the most elaborate traditional vintage Venetian costumes.
What’s Included in the trip?
We provide daily tuition, evaluation and guidance throughout from an experienced carnival and travel photographer (that's me - Steven Gosling). Each day we will review your photos and provide valuable guidance and constructive feedback.
Our events are structured for photographers of all abilities; We cater for everyone from the very experienced to those who are just learning about digital photography and want some tuition and help. Its a great opportunity to improve your photographic skills in a visually rich and historic environment.
We will explore the city on foot and waterbus to see not only the main sights but also some of the quieter but no less photogenic areas of the city – taking you to the best places to get the best shots.
Our timings are designed to make the most of the best quality light, and whilst Venice is particularly popular during the carnival we will try to find areas that are less busy. It also gives you scope to do your own thing as this city has so much to offer.

We will be joined across the weekend by our own professional model Jessica Fisher - http://purpleport.com/portfolio/jesfisher/ Jessica will have at least 2 different outfits, one typically Venetian and the other a floaty ball gown (or similar). She will also create different looks with different makeup, masks and hair styles over the weekend so we can get as many different styles as possible. Jessica has over 20 years experience as a full time model and makeup up artist, she has been internationally published.
Why use our own model when there will be so many other people to photograph?
Having experienced and photographed the carnival several times, we have identified the only way to really get the best images is to have our own model for your exclusive use. The carnival is very busy and lively. Getting the costumed characters to pose how you want or to get some dedicated time with them is very difficult. Also because there are many other photographers after the same shot or in close proximity, it can be difficult to get full length shots. Plus many don’t speak English so communicating is not easy.
Having our own professional model alleviates this problem and also means we can get away from the big crowds and get much better shots, be more creative and really use the amazing back drops that Venice has to offer. Our model will be in addition to spending time shooting the other “public” costumed characters.
We believe we are unique in this approach whereby no other UK Venice Carnival Photography trip has their own model available.
