The Tutorial
Mastering Lightroom Part One
A 4 hour hands-on course to get you up to speed with Lightroom as an integral part of your workflow.
Now updated to include Lightroom Classic CC and Lightroom “web” CC
Preferences: Configuring Lightroom to work for you.
Catalogues: What they are and how to set them up to suit your photography. When to use a single catalogue and when to use multiple. We also cover how to merge and export catalogues.
Importing: How to import, backup, rename your images. Create standard meta data with custom templates that will speed up your workflow and also help you locate your files both in and out of Lightroom.
Selects: How to create a workflow that speeds up making your selects, comparing different shots and outputting to the web for client review. We cover flagging, colour coding, starring and sorting.
Searching: How to locate images based on a variety of criteria including rating, date, camera and/or lens type, filename, keywords etc.
Sorting: Arranging your images by a variety of criteria plus custom order.
Collections: How to create and use collections, including smart collections and syncing collections with Lightroom Web.
Exporting: One of the powerful features of Lightroom is the ability to create and save export presets including adding watermarks as required. We will take you through creating and saving presets.
Publishing: Unlike exporting, publishing is a two way communication with a destination and means you can keep a Dropbox or Google Drive folder up to date, plus link Instagram, Facebook, Flickr and 500px directly to your Lightroom catalogue. This is one of the most time saving features of Lightroom and often overlooked.
Web: Want to create contact sheets for your clients to review your images? The web module is ideal for this. You will learn how to use templates and plugins to integrate seamlessly with your website. In the second part, we will cover the Develop module in depth and how to work with external applications.
