Common FAQs for new members using PurplePort

Here are some How to’s for new members using the site (and anyone else needing a refresh!).

Change the date I started working
To change the date that you started doing the work you do (e.g. modeling), go to the purple cog (top right) and choose Manage your account. Then click Personal details and under the heading Details there is a box next to Approximate date you started creating... where you can enter the date you started your work.
Make sure you click Update your account at the bottom of the page to save any changes you have made.
Change my location
Go to the purple cog (top right) and choose Manage your account. Then click Personal details and under the heading Your location type your current location into the box. Then select the correct location from the drop-down list that appears. Your new location will then appear on the map.
Make sure you click Update your account to save any changes you have made.
Make my portfolio visible to members only
Go to the purple cog (top right) and choose Manage your account. Then click General site settings and under the heading Profile Settings, there’s an option to tick/untick for Members only portfolio. Selecting this will mean that only logged-in members can see your portfolio.
Change my email address
You can change your email address by going to your settings page.
Go to the purple cog (top right) and choose Manage your account. Then click Personal details and under the heading Details click (Change) next to the word Email. A pop-up box will then appear where you can enter the new email address you want for your account. Once you have entered your new email address click Change email… and an email will then be sent to this email address asking you to verify this change.
Manage my email notifications
Once you have ticked all the boxes for the notifications that you want (or removed the notifications you don't want), click Save e-mail preferences at the bottom right-hand side of your page.
Log on without my email address
You can log on to your account using your nickname, or request a password reset using that page, which will then email you on the address you have signed up with.
Your nickname is the bit that appears in the URL link to your portfolio. For example, the nickname on this account is lsjf - https://purpleport.com/portfolio/lsjf
Reset my password
On the login page, type either your nickname or email address into the box and then click Reset password underneath. Instructions for what to next will then be sent to the email address associated with your PurplePort account.
If you are having trouble receiving this email, make sure you add PurplePort emails to your Safe Senders list (see Adding PurplePort emails to your Safe Senders list for more information). Adding us to your Safe Senders list also ensures that you will receive an email in your inbox instead of it being diverted to the incorrect folder or worse yet not arriving at all.
The domain or email you need to use is purpleport.com and/or email@example.com.
Improve my reply rate
When you view a portfolio, whether yours or others, it will show a reply overview and when you move the mouse cursor over it it will tell you the exact response rate.
If you receive an initial message and don't reply then that will decrease your response rate.
PurplePort only takes into account messages you have received between 12 months ago and 7 days ago. This means messages older than 12 months are not counted, and messages received in the last 7 days are also not counted. If you reply just once then your response rate will increase again.
To see which messages you have not replied to that affect your reply rate click here. By replying to these messages, your reply rate will be 100% again.
Add a reference
Go to the member’s portfolio who you wish to leave a reference for and scroll down to the heading References near the bottom of the page. Click the button on the right-hand side which says Add a reference and a pop-up window will appear asking you the type of reference you can add.
There are three types of reference which you can add:
- Canceled with less than 72hrs notice
- Did not show up
- Showed up
For the reference Showed up you can also choose to add whether you would recommend this member or not. This is a simple Yes or No option.

Redeem my referral gift
The referral gift is a choice between either 30 days of PurplePort VIP membership or a $5 referral fee, both of which can only be redeemed once that member has signed up and been an active member for 3 months.
- 30 days of PurplePort VIP membership can be redeemed as soon as the referred member has signed up and been an active member for 3 months.
- $5 referral fee can be redeemed once you reach a total of $50. An option will then be available to request a transfer the funds and once this is done we'll transfer it for you.
Once you have chosen which type of referral gift you want, this cannot be changed.
We will also give you a Bonus referral gift every time someone you have referred to PurplePort purchases more than 1 month VIP membership which means that you will automatically receive 30 days VIP membership too!
Upgrade my account

Deactivate my account
There are two types of deactivation: temporary and permanent.
From the purple cog (top right) choose Manage your account. Then, from the grey cog (top right) choose Deactivate or scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Deactivate.
- If you deactivate temporarily, then all you need to do to activate your account is log in.
- If you deactivate permanently, then your account and all images are removed forever and you cannot log back in. If you change your mind later and want to join PurplePort, then you are, of course, welcome to create another account.
If you have created a new (pending) account that has not yet been approved and you no longer wish to keep then please contact the PurplePort Admin Team via a support ticket to request that your account is removed. We can then reject your account from our application process.
Requesting your data for GDPR
Active members of PurplePort can access all of their data through their own profile pages and profile management sections of the website. A request for a data-dump of all of their data can also be requested through their account, which will then be provided securely within 30-days.
Inactive members of the site can request access to the personal data we retain for the reasons noted at the beginning of this section, via direct contact with us via a support ticket or email. Upon verifying your identity is valid, we’ll provide a data-dump of all of your data, which will then be provided securely within 30-days.
Note that access to your data is free of charge, unless the request is deemed to be either unfounded, excessive or repetitive, in which case a related admin fee may be requested. We maintain the right to withhold personal data, if disclosing it adversely affects the rights and freedoms of others, extending to intellectual property rights and trade secrets, this includes confidential reports and relevant information made by other members.
