Here's the thing. What you want from a Portfolio Builder type event is a good few really good shots, maybe of something you've never done before, which will really boost up your portfolio. And that's exactly what you get when Chris Conway organises one. Pretty much guaranteed.

You get a model who can work solid for 3-4 hours with maybe 6 costume changes and still deliver on the last frame. You get 5-6 setups/scenes and lighting changes that absolutely work ... because Chris has meticulously planned and/or scouted each one.

What you DON'T get is a load of faffing around and a 'group shoot' that descends into a 6 photographer free-for-all ... because Chris just doesn't let that happen.

You get what it says on the tin. And super value for money.

Well organised and generous event in a lovely studio. It speaks to the obvious meticulous attention to detail in the establishment and team.

Nice to see some faces from the old Monkey Cave crowd, and some new ones.

Really made to feel very welcome at the studio and a unbelievable amount of modifiers available. Chris could not have been more helpful would highly recommend this studio to anyone in the area .

Had a great shoot at Studio Hire Plymouth. Chris was as good a host as any tog could expect. Readily available to help throughout.

Studio was nice and warm which is always a bonus. Lighting and modifiers galore. I'll deffo be paying another visit as it allows you to do so much. Coloured backgrounds, gels and gobos next I think.

A great bunch of people to hang out with too and an amazing model - Tinkerbella.

Captured loads of amazing images and had a fun evening, thanks Chris!

If you haven't attended any of Chris's workshops then I would totally recommend them.

I had my first portfolio builder here hosted by Chris Conway - an exceptionally talented photographer.

Chris welcomed us in and was kind enough to lug my suitcase up the stairs for me and pop the kettle on once I had laid out my clothes in the dressing area.

The studio is warm, a nice big space with many lighting opportunities with his equipment and skills.

The 6 photographers who attended this sold out event were all very respectful, friendly and had a obvious passion for wanting to create art.

It was an absolutely privilege to be chosen to work at this studio and for an event with Chris, it involved 6 sets with various different lighting set ups and changes, and it was run very professionally resulting in a efficient workshop with lots of great images created.

Id 100% recommend this studio and the events held here, there's no doubt you'll leave with something you're proud of!

First time for me at the studio. Very impressed, good space, great layout and very clean and tidy. Chris was on hand to assist with changing modifiers and make sure we had all we needed, including ironing board and iron to spruce up a creased jacket, and then left us to get creative.

Will be looking to shoot here again when next in the area. Highly recommended.

Had to Hire the studio last minute for a baby bump shoot and Chris could not have been more accommodating. The studio is great, well equipped, warm and friendly.

I was lucky enough to attend a Portfolio builder workshop given by Chris Conway from Plymouth Studio Hire featuring the lovely Amie Boulton, hosted at Inspire Studios in Salisbury. The workshop covered five different sets/lighting styles throughout the three hour session. The workshop was fantastic value for money and I certainly came away with some great images. I used Plymouth Studio hire for a number of 1-1's during my SW tour, and am so glad that I chose to use the space!!

The studio is absolutely stunning, offers a great space in both the studio and 'back of house' including a really lovely changing area.

Lots of choice with lighting, equipment and backdrops.

Super easy to find, and with easy parking :-)

I was also lucky enough to model in one of Chris's group shoots on the evening.

This was easily the best group shoot that I have taken part in with fab direction, balance and organisation.

Thank you so much Chris - I cant wait to come back :-)

I had my first portfolio builder day with Chris in his studio and it was such a good experience.

The event was set up very professionally and all the photographers there were lovely.

Chris set up all the different backdrops and created some really nice set ups and the photos achieved are great!

The whole day was planned really well which made it easier for me and for the other photographers.

I’d definitely recommend using this studio, and also attending one of Chris’ portfolio builder days!

The studio has everything you'll ever need and the lighting set ups are gorgeous!

Both workshops went well and I've never attended such organised events.

I haven't been to studio hire for about 2 years now so I was really happy to be back last weekend for 3 days of different events.

The studio just gets better and better...spacious, very clean, lovely dressing room area, great equipment, lots of cool gadgets and backdrops etc

Chris is on hand to help you if needed but will step back and let you shoot in privacy too.

It's the only studio I think of going to when on my south west tour, it's the best!

Chris has a great set up there, more light options than lightly-place with lots of options and is on hand for set up and advice, and disappears when you’re ready and Happy

I shot at the studio over a few days and love the new refurb - the infinity curve is effortless and so handy, the crazy massive collection of lighting, studio owner Chris being on hand to work his legendary lighting magic....

So many genres you can explore in this beautiful studio - I thoroughly recommend it to all 😊
