Recently I have been quite ill and have spent some time in hospital where I was diagnosed with cancer. I am feeling much better at the moment but I know that this is only for a limited time, and I will probably not be fully taking part in what I enjoy about Purple Port. Please be patient if you contact me for anything as I will probably be very slow at responding to messages etc.
I am an amateur photographer who has worked with models in studios for many years, after a long time of not really knowing what I was doing, I finally joined a camera club and got some instruction on how to set-up studio lights, and how to direct and work with a model. I was fortunate that the club I belonged to had the luxury of a studio and a darkroom so I was able to make the most of the facilities and spent many hours learning and honing my photographic skills. These days I have given up using film and hiding away in a darkroom and gone digital, but find that the experience that I gained previously can still be put to good use.
I like to take portraits and nudes and I like to work with models that want to put something of themselves into each image and want to contribute with their own ideas as well as trying to fulfil my own ideas to the best of their abilities. While some of my ideas for shoots are fairly standard, I do try to be inventive with shoot themes and ideas, I also like to create images with a hint of humour about them. I welcome ideas from models and other creative people who I could collaborate with, anyone interested please get in touch through Purple Port.
A friendly individual, I always treat any model I work with the utmost respect. Happy to travel a reasonable distance for a shoot, I am also happy to reimburse models travel expenses if they were to travel to Oxfordshire, which does have some excellent locations for working in the landscape, though I might add that arthritis in my knees and hips means that I am not able to walk any great distances these days.
