About Me

Qualified: I am a qualified photographer (City and Guilds) with more than 30 years of experience including a number of years as a professional wedding and portrait photographer.

Philosophy and Approach: Operating as KernowPhoto as a non-commercial venture allows me to devote my time and expertise to the subjects that give me most pleasure and to give something back to the art I love. I aim to maintain the high standards and provide the quality of service that one would expect of a qualified and experienced professional but without the associated costs.

Published Photographer: I am a published photographer having been featured in numerous magazine publications and in the local national press.

Location: I am based in Mid-Cornwall and normally limit shooting to Cornwall.

Types of Shoot

TFP: The vast majority of my work is TFP, meaning that both model and photographer work for free. Models are always provided with copies of at least 10 edited images which they are free to use in their portfolio, on social media and in any non-commercial setting providing the photographer and any other people involved are credited.

Paid Shoots: Occasionally I may pay models for a shoot, the fee will be negotiated in advance. As is industry practice, where a model is paid for a shoot, no images will normally be supplied free. I am happy to accept payment from models for a shoot. Fees and number of images to be supplied will be negotiated in advance.

Part Paid: I am always willing to discuss and agree terms for part-paid work.

Typical shooting time is normally in the region of two hours. All models will be required to sign a model release.

With that in mind, I do not normally charge models any fees for non-commercial photoshoots, portfolio building and similar work. 

Neither do I normally pay models for non-commercial photoshoots.

this is a great way to do it spending a fortune.

Copyright and use of images on Social Media Etc

You are free to use all images supplied for non-commercial use, including posting on social media providing the photographer and any other people involved are credited. However, copyright is retained by me the photographer and commercial use is prohibited without express permission, for which a fee may be payable.

Please do not edit supplied images or apply filters etc. I never supply unedited files so please don’t ask.

Levels and Chaperones

I shoot at various levels including fashion, boudoir, up to art nude. Levels and themes will usually be agreed in advance. If as a model you feel uncomfortable at any time then please say as I will always respect your levels.

You are welcome to bring a chaperone with you to a shoot but please let me know in advance so they can be accommodated. Models under 18years are restricted to fashion shoots and MUST bring a parent or someone ‘in loco parentis’ with them on all shoots.

Cancellations etc.

Life happens and sometimes it may be necessary to cancel or postpone a shoot. If you need to cancel, then please, please let me know as soon as possible. Shoots can take a while to arrange especially if locations need to be scouted, studios booked and other people are involved. The more notice you can give the better. It can be very frustrating if after putting a lot of work into planning a shoot the model simply does not turn up.

Some shoots can be weather dependant and occasionally you may have an ‘emergency’. When you are booked you will be given my mobile number a quick message would be appreciated if there is a problem.
