I specialise in street and urban modelling, performance arts and theatre. As a commercial photographer I am free to choose when and where I work. PurplePort is my hobby so I make no charge for my time or travel, plus it's a fun day out.

Lived in Sheffield for over 30 years, now live in Harrogate, worked across the UK (mainly in London) and Europe so I know most of the local towns and cities very well. My current connections and commitments mean I am still a frequent traveller. I had to travel far and wide every day of my working life so a few more miles is not an issue for me. I learn't years ago that if you want the work then be prepared to travel and put yourself out; rarely are the top jobs found on your doorstep.

No longer have a studio and no intention of owning one in the future. For fashion and head shots, the great outdoors offers you the best lighting, back drops and locations. The best pictures use what's outside in our towns and cities. I still have all my studio lighting and supporting kit, which I use regularly, so can set-up shoots in studios, offices, theatres, homes if that is what you require.

My style is sharp, bright, punchy, get you noticed pictures. With my strong links to business and theatre it's important for me to use light correctly and get the best out of what's available. And when that's not enough, I create striking contrasts with a few strobe lights. The key to success is to work simple, effective and make the most of what you have and not waste time wishing for what is not there. 

Having acted in all forms of theatre performance for over 50 years, and have worked with many brilliant Directors, my acting and theatre knowledge is exceptional. I shoot fashion (head, 3/4 and full length) and all levels of theatre. Theatre is head shots, promotional posters and live shows. My head shots will get you noticed. Recent acting clients have never been so busy - so they tell me. Recent successes include actors successful getting their Film, TV and parts in Commercials. Several of these head shots are in my portfolio and all photographed on the street.
