It's Not the Camera

All of these photos were taken using a 6.3 megapixel APS-C crop-sensor DSLR: Canon's D60. (Not the 60D, which was released in 2010, but the D60, which was released in 2002--21 years ago.)

That camera sells used on keh.com or mpb.com, when they have it, for around $25-$35.

In low light, it wasn't very good--highest usable ISO in my opinion was 200--and the autofocus was pretty limited with 3 AF points total, but within its limitations, it did just fine. I can't recommend it now, as there are much better options under $100, but it can serve to demonstrate that inexpensive, limited equipment isn't useless. You just need to know what the limitations are, and work within them.
