FPI suggestion tracking.

When I suggest an image to be included on Front page I've usually left a comment that inspired me to do so, although I see no reason to mention I've suggested it as that is unimportant and has no benefit to anybody.....what difference would that actually make, am I missing something?

Are there any reasons that a photo is ineligible for FPI apart from being in a private album? I ask because I suggested some but they didn't all show on the suggested FPI list and another one that did show on the FPI list disappeared quickly. Seems what I like is not the same as what the so called elves want and who are the elves anyway as they seem to be secret?

If it's not eligible "suggest" will go away. 

If it doesn't appear, you may need to look further down the suggested heap, because if someone suggested it a while ago it may not be on the top page. If it disappears that usually means elves are voting on it.  

The elves are just people who can bothered to do the job and have put their names forward with a selection of what they would put on the front page. (I'm not one, have never been, and have never put my name forward). A would be elf with very different taste won't get on the panel .

I also keep a pair of albums for suggested and granted, and garden them occasionally.

I don't comment, but the albums are public.

Rather than notifications, we have many interruptions already and it is transient, perhaps a report could exist, viewable from a menu, or the whole thing could be handled through two special albums, as above.

I guessed from their picks they are mainly retired men.  I've no skin in the game.  I'm not going to get an FPI.  I'm curious though.  Do you happen to know why the identity of elves is so secret?

I know 5 people who said the were serving or ex-elves. 3 female (all models on this site). I don't think either of the men were retired - but a bit like magistrate, you need time on your hands to sit in judgement. 

The whole FPI idea started in the early days of the site when the owner didn't want to do all the choosing, and got like minded people to do it.  I doubt the elves would get any peace the list of current ones were published.
