Having followed the thread with interest, I thought I would put my tuppence worth in!  In the 3 1/2years I have been working with models in my photography hobby, I have worked with approaching 40 plus models.  In this time I have worked with models with breasts of all shapes, sizes and ages and I can honestly say that I have never chosen or not chosen a model because of breast size.  For me it is about the model as a person and trying to capture her magic, personality and character most usually in an outdoor setting, though ofcourse I can understand in some shoots a particular size or shape of breast maybe needed to achieve a certain look, but this certainly isn't how I work!

However, to almost contradict myself a little, I prefer working with models who have natural busts whatever the size, than models who have surgically enhanced ones, but again I wouldn't not shoot with someone just because their breasts are enhanced.  I find that no matter how natural the model thinks her enhanced bust looks, to me they just look unreal, or sit awkwardy or look uncomfortable / wrong, and in the natural environment where I shoot this I feel this can detract a little from the images.

On a personal note, I can understand why some women choose to have breast enhancements and of course it is their right to do so, but I feel sad at the same time, that they feel they have to alter their breast size to gain body / self confidence or even god forbid to gain extra modelling work because they percieve photographers want big breasts.

The old addage of size isn't everything comes to mind, but that its what you got that counts!!

I don't think you can generalise. Big or small, there is a place for all body types and - as RA suggests - it is more important that the model is confident with how she looks.  The same goes for choice of pubic hair, but that's a whole other thread...

Never chosen a model on breast size. I look at the whole figure for the flow & form.

Size should not matter at all and if a tog dosen't want to work with a model because of their breast size/shape/look then the model should count herself lucky!!

What about if the client doesn't want a particular model because of their breast size/shape? What if that client is casting for models for a fashion shoot and the garment is already made?

I think your statement is just a bit silly...

As the view of a hobbyist photographer I'm not sure why my statement is silly......would it have been less silly if I changed the word 'tog' to 'hobbyist tog?

That's Clients decision I would think, letting the photographer off the hook either way.

Thankyou Karen.....

I'd work with any model to any level (except adult) any time!

- That used to bother me, doesn't anymore, lay my palm with gold - i'll compose the shot and press the shutter - it's a magic button, it also helps pay the bills.  I'm a photographer, not a judge.

As a hobbyist who still has to pay for experienced models to shoot with, I'm grateful for models that will work with me

It's not about what the photographer thinks, it's about what the model thinks.

Surley this sums it all up??

I have no problem with my breast size wise, I just choose not to fully expose them for personal reasons. My real worry is my stomach. I don't think boobs make a difference to a shot whether they are big or small

Personally I'd be far more inclined to work with a model that has smaller natural boobs than big fake ones.

Yes. That's what this whole multibillion-dollar industry is about : inner beauty.

It's saddening that so many girls think that boob size is an issue. A natural, well maintained figure is all you need. Boob jobs never look right.

Of course it's an issue.

If you had two globs of fat on your chest which you were constantly made to feel self conscious about from the age that they started to develop then you too would find them an issue.  They get in the way constantly, especially if you do any sort of sports.  If they're too small you don't fill tops out, if they're too big you don't fit in tops.

If your penis was actually protruding from your chest and was constantly on display whatever you wore, especially in the summer when you can't wear too many clothes, wouldn't you start to feel a bit self conscious about it?  Especially when people of the opposite sex stare or make comments?

@charlotte. +1!!!!!

Blokes should have to just wear tiny little pants around so we can stand and wolf whistle and snigger at how big/little their package is.... That's the world I want to live in.

With my belly the size it is, you might want to reconsider that idea!
