I'm looking to replace my current video camera. Ideally I'm looking for one that does 4K to future proof it a little. it needs to have XLR audio jacks and a cold shoe for on camera lighting. I've been looking at Canon's range but I'm not particularly impressed by any of them. It needs IS and be usable handheld.

Budget is £3000.

What are you suggestions and why?

High quality flip out monitor, XLR inputs and audio has a good range of picture profiles, shoots onto SD cards and has dual card slots all depends what you need to be shooting really.

Admin, please could you merge this thread with my other one on the same subject? site seems to lock up posting the thread, so I hit the button again and got two.

thanks

Blackmagic Mini Ursa (Cheapest I've seen is via Wex £2.6k) but you'll need a battery plate, battery, memory cards etc. so might creep over your £3k budget, but a good camera.

Aren't they old shaped cameras which have the equivalent of a PC inside them?

I've considered them in the past, but wasn't sure, so went with one of the canon professional cameras.

looks good. I'll have to check the focal length of the lens on my current camera with the wide angle adapter attached. the wide angle adapter weighs a ton, so it would be good if I didn't need it anymore.

The Production Camera and the Studio Camera were very odd.

But the Ursa and the Mini Ursa are a bit more traditional.

Although be warned it doesn't come with half the stuff in this picture. No handle, no view finder etc. all sold separately.

I suspect that's more than I need.

I'll be shooting HD most of the time as I still think 4k isn't mainstream and won't be for quite a while. Plus all the disk space required for storing 4K footage.
