So I will finally start doing some photo shoots of my own in next few weeks. I am just waiting on my new speedlite, triggers and stand.

Ive literally done a hand full of photo shoots with my college tutor and a friend who is a pro. And even though Im so excited about getting creative ... Im so bloody nervous too?!

I think its because Ive only ever done shoots with help. Im bit nervous about going it alone as Im still really very in experienced and don't have a strong understanding of everything.

Id like to set up a Facebook page with my photography but I feel having only done 5 shoots (and all with help) that I should I wait and get some more experience, knowledge and shoots under my belt first?

Incase its not clear because this is my modelling page, I am talking about setting up a photography page not modelling. I model part time but to be a photographer is the dream.

All advice welcome.

Thank you x

Set up a Facebook page whenever you feel like it, I just set up a page when I had a few images, and I only use to showcase my images really, I don't get work through it :) I assure you, it's no big step!

Embrace the nerves!  I feel nervous before every photoshoot.  I feel nervous before every technical instruction session I teach, and I've been doing that for 17 years now.   Nerves are good, nerves keep you in check.   Don't ever let them get the better of you though.

The best way to get more experience is to just do it.  Shoot, shoot, shoot.  Ride the nerves, and go for it! :)

Nothing like jumping in at the deep end - Keep it simple and go with the flow and above all remember to have fun :) Good luck hope it all goes well.

We all get nervous... Just channel those nerves into excitement and positive action.

Im sure you will find the time will simply fly by...and you will feel exhausted afterwards....take your time, talk to your model, have fun, explain that you are still building up your competence and skills... And when it's all over, pat yourself on the back and start planning how to improve ready for the next one.   Good luck

After only a handful of shoots with models who had been arranged by others, I wanted to be more creative and decided to book a model myself through PP, to put it mildly I was bricking it before the shoot, I knew hardly any technical terms and had all these bad thoughts running through my head, what if I break my camera whilst shooting, trip over in front of the model or the model thinks I am an idiot when I ask her to do a certain pose.

Guess what? the shoot went fine, yeah of course it could have been miles better from a creative point of view but I am so glad I just went ahead and done it.

My  advice would be just go in with a clear mind of what you want from the shoot and be positive in your thinking :D
