Damn fine idea Tarmoo, i have elinchrom triggers but will be speedlights for me as A. don't have/cant afford Rangers, B. thought i would try to minimise kit as much as possible! Ill have a look at mine over the weekend and set up, letting you all know on here. Plan i had was at most 2 lights, prefer to shoot daylight which will be fine for the first 3 possibly 4 slots but after that options will be flash or ambient room light. Having had a scan of the rooms from the web, it will be interesting but really looking forward to the event and meeting you all.

I will be using 2 strobes triggered by American Pocket Wizards - they operate on a different frequency to UK triggers and therefore will not interfere (and there were no issues last time). I will also be bringing a PC cord to trigger with in the event of any issues. As you asked about frequency, UK is 433MHz, mine operate on 344MHz hence no issue.

Last time I did some ambient/natural light, some speedlights, but mostly used my BXRi studio lights with two Elinchrom Rotalux softboxes - 140cm Octa and a 100cm Deep Oct. At the end of each shoot the phone rings and you have ten minutes to move to the next room, which is typically next door. Photographers rotate one way through the rooms and models the other way, so you don't have to go far and there is plenty of time to move a couple of studio lights to the room next door.
The problem with speedlights is that they can get very hot (my SB900s do) after a few minutes and then you have to wait until they cool down. Rechargeable batteries generate more heat, so maybe bring some Duracell batteries instead. I would not want to use speedlights for seven hours.

I use external batteries and they tend to work fine! used speedlights on a number of shoots, but i will consider bringing a studio head or 2 as a backup, thanks for the info.

I'm interested in shooting there again on the Saturday.
Unfortunately Ray has had to withdraw from the shoot - so there is now one space open again!
Also unfortunately due to unforseen circumstances Katie Star has had to withdraw as well, so has been replaced by one of our amazing reserves - Lana Parker! (who is also already booked to shoot on the friday!) - http://purpleport.com/portfolio/lanaparker/

Fortunately someone had a printed version of the manual so we could all choose different frequencies. Otherwise, if we all used the default setting we would all be setting off each other's flashes and it would have been a nightmare.
My Elinchrom Skyport trigger is currently set to Channel 3 - the three frequency switches are down, up, down. If other users also have the same triggers, then perhaps you could read the manual and set your triggers and flash heads up before arriving at the shoot to different frequencies.
I suggest all the photographer gather in the hotel lounge around 13:00 to check studio flash setup.
Ha Ha , that was me - we had the same problem the first time and couldn't figure out how to change the triggers :)
Just a suggestion - might be worth comparing trigger/flash channel settings on the facebook event that Lucy has set-up so there is no faffing when you arrive.
Shame I couldn't put my hat in the ring for this event, its a lot of fun. Hectic, but a lot of fun

Good evening, re the Elinchrom triggers, mine are set to channel 6 unless that interferes with anyone?

If photographers have any set ideas / looks please communicate with the models prior to the shoot so they can help accommodate this and know what to pack!
