Suggestion: remove GPS info from uploaded photos by default

If it isn't possible to strip the EXIF data on upload, how about adding a functionality to hide the EXIF data once the image has been uploaded?

this may not work, as if you save the picture to your local machine with a right click, then you open the file in Photoshop and can see the info

Whilst my suggestion doesn't take this into account (and it wasn't designed to), it may be possible to impliment some code for a thumbnail to be downloaded rather than the actual image itself.

Were is my tinfoil hat again, if you wanted to find out information on a model or photographer then it's pretty simple to do, there is no need for this type of paranoia.

A few people have Urbex of other locations they would prefer not broadcast.

They might prefer the photographer (or model) not to publish location data.

There is an example of a gap between owner of photo and person affected by location data.

Generally though I incline to the view that at most telling people where the image reports itself made and optionally offering to substitute The North Pole if it is Xmas or the centre of the nearest body of water[1]  to the centre of the country it was identified as coming from.

[1] Google the adventures of people who live at the centre of a United State of America due to geolocation to that locus.  Not good.  Pick a lake as pseudo-centroid.

Wasn't somebody murdered after a Vice reporter neglected to remove the location info from an image they posted?

This is why I don't like models/chaperones taking pictures in my home. I always use a backdrop and remove metadata.
